Along with first Communions and confirmations, parishioners throughout the Springfield Diocese have honored a centenarian and contest winners, while young actors at one parish prepare a very special production of “The Wizard of Oz” and one parish looks forward to a special summer spiritual activity.

Joseph Langone Jr., of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Springfield, was the first-place state winner of the Knights of Columbus "Keep Christ in Christmas" poster contest. His entry has now been submitted for international judging.

Summer Lectio in the Park, hosted by Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Springfield, will be held on Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. starting June 2. Meet in parking lot next to Picknelly Park. All are welcome.

The annual Crowning of Mary ceremony was held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Springfield, on May 6.

Msgr. Christopher Connelly, diocesan vicar general, submitted this photo of a monument in St. Michael's Cemetery. The sculpture of a repentant priest embracing Jesus sits atop the grave of a diocesan priest, Father Charles Boylan, pastor of All Souls Parish in Springfield, who battled alcohol addiction. He died in 1913.
