OBITUARY: Sister Dianne Roncarati, SSJ

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sister of St. Joseph Dianne Lee Roncarati (formerly Sister Walter Theresa), 73, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died in Providence, R.I. on Feb. 26. A native of Springfield, she was the daughter of Leno and Rina (Pirani) Roncarati.
She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1964 and entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from Holy Family Parish in Springfield in that same year.
She earned a bachelor of arts degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee and a master’s degree from Rhode Island College in Providence, R.I.
She taught science in the Pawtucket Catholic schools of the Diocese of Providence, including Our Lady of Consolation School and St. Raphael Academy. She taught at Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, Mass., and taught and served as dean of students at Bishop Keough High School in Pawtucket.
In addition to her sisters in community, she is survived by her dear friend, Sister Patricia Rahaim; many faithful colleagues and friends; several generations of grateful students; and the caring staff at Steere House in Providence. She was preceded in death by her parents.
All services for Sister Roncarati will take place in St. Joseph Chapel at Mont Marie in Holyoke on Monday, March 2. She will be waked from 9:30-10:30 a.m., with a prayer service at 10 a.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 11a.m. Burial will be in Mont Marie Cemetery.
