SPRINGFIELD – Sister Helen Perry (Patricia Jane), beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died at Bethany Healthcare Center, Framingham, MA on March 23, 2026. Born in Passaic, NJ she was the daughter of Franklyn and Elizabeth (Byrne) Perry, Jr. Sister Helen grew up in Jamestown, RI and entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from St. Mark Parish, Jamestown, RI in 1964.

She graduated from St. Catherine Academy, Newport. She earned a B.A. degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee and a M.A. from American International College, Springfield with a master’s degree in Education.

Sister taught at Sacred Heart, Holyoke, Holy Family, Holy Name Schools, Springfield and St. Thomas School, West Springfield. Sister served for a time as pastoral minister at Holy Family Parish. She was principal of Mary Immaculate School, Holyoke for three years.

Most recently she was Congregational Representative at Mont Marie Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Holyoke, where she ministered to the residents.

Sr. Helen was predeceased by her  parents, Franklyn and Elizabeth. She leaves a very dear friend, Sr. Denise Granger, SSJ along with all her sisters in community.

All services for Sr. Helen will take place in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield, MA., on Monday, March 30, 2026. Sister will be waked from 9:30 A.M, with a prayer service at 10:00 A.M. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Mont Marie Cemetery.
