Youth Advent Retreat – final Eglish

SPRINGFIELD – The Office of Youth Ministry will host “In the Stillness of the Night Advent Retreat,” Saturday, Dec. 14 from 4:30-9 p.m. at St. Mary High School in Westfield. The retreat is open to middle and high school youth. The evening will allow teenagers to reflect on “Christ’s humble entry into creation.”

“Everyone can agree that our world is dominated by noise. Studies show that youth spend more than four hours a day on social media, watching an average of 68 videos each day. The youth of our time exist in a moment with great noise surrounding them. This Advent, we invite all youth of the diocese to take a moment to pause and discover the stillness of God, to prepare our hearts for the coming of the Messiah,” said Joe Austin, the director of the Office of Missionary Discipleship, which oversees youth ministry.

Youth Ambassadors alumni Niko Coelho and Julia Rubin are the featured speakers. The evening will include ice breaker games, personal sharing, and Eucharistic adoration. The Psalm 33 Music Ministry will provide the music throughout the evening. There will also be a buffet dinner included in the $10 cost.

“Last but not least, the retreat ends with a ‘Late Night’ time of hot chocolate, candies and fun games. We hope all youth of the diocese will consider joining us for our 2024 Advent Retreat,” Austin said.
