OBITUARY: Sister Ann Gibeault, SSJ

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Sister of St. Joseph Ann Gibeault (formerly Sister Dorothy Albert), 88, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died in Bethany Health Care Center, Framingham, Mass., on Nov. 11.

Born in Pawtucket, R.I., she was the daughter of Alfred J. and Sophie (Pytel) Gibeault. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from Holy Trinity Parish, Central Falls, R.I. in 1953. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Pawtucket. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee, and a master’s in education in psychology from (then) Westfield State College.

She taught in a number of schools in the Springfield, Worcester and Providence dioceses: St. Mary’s, Southbridge; St. Mary’s, Northampton; Blessed Sacrament, Greenfield; St. Joseph’s, North Brookfield; Sacred Heart, Pawtucket; Holy Trinity, Central Falls; Our Lady of Consolation, Pawtucket; and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Academy, Central Falls. She served as coordinator of religious education at St. Joseph Parish, North Brookfield, and Sacred Heart Parish, Pawtucket.

In addition to her sisters in community, she leaves an aunt, Mary Davis of North Attleboro, Mass. She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Sophie Gibeault.

All services will take place in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut St., Springfield, on Thursday, Nov. 16. She will be waked at 9 a.m., with a prayer service at 9:30. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mont Marie Cemetery in Holyoke.
