SPRINGFIELD – The Gray House, a social service agency located in Springfield’s North End, recently inducted Longmeadow resident Thomas P. Shea to its board of directors for a three-year term at its virtual January meeting.

Shea is a retired managing director for Barings, an international investment management firm owned by Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company.

Shea is not new to The Gray House and has been a pantry volunteer for several years and a former site manager for The Gray House Senior Lunch Program. He also is a delivery driver for the Food for the Soul program at St. Mary Parish in Longmeadow and a volunteer Meals on Wheels driver for Greater Springfield Senior Services.

Passionate about food security, Shea was introduced to The Gray House in 2020 through the Greater Springfield Senior Services, Inc. lunch program collaboration.

“After volunteering at The Gray House and seeing their operations,” Shea said,”I wanted to join the board and help them further their mission in food assistance, as well as their educational  programs for adults and children.”

“The appointment of Tom Shea to our board will prove invaluable,” said Kristen McClintock, executive director of The Gray House. “His volunteer work within our agency during the pandemic has provided him with a solid understanding of the current challenges faced by our neighbors in need. Born and raised in Springfield, Tom has demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to our community, and, as such, I am confident that his dedication and experience will continue to advance the mission of The Gray House.”
