NORTHFIELD – The Northfield campus of California-based Thomas Aquinas College, preparing to welcome students in August, will hold the first regularly scheduled Mass on Sunday, March 3 at 1:30 p.m. in Sage Chapel.
After the Mass, the Blessed Sacrament will be reposed in the chapel’s new tabernacle.
Thomas Aquinas College, based in Santa Paula, Calif., took over ownership of the former Northfield Mount Herman School in May of 2017. The National Christian Foundation donated a majority of the 500,000-square-foot campus, including 22 buildings, to the college as a gift. It’s expected that the enrollment at the Northfield campus will eventually grow to serve 350-400 students.
Founded in 1971, Thomas Aquinas College offers a four-year classical curriculum that spans the major arts and sciences, with a focus on the “Great Books.” Students read the original works of the greatest thinkers in Western civilization in the major disciplines: mathematics, natural science, literature, philosophy, and theology.
“All are welcome to come to the Mass and reservation ceremony, after which we will offer refreshments and a campus tour for those who would like to learn more about Thomas Aquinas College, New England,” said Thomas Aquinas president, Michael F. McLean. Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP online at https://thomasaquinas.edu. .
Beginning Saturday, March 9, the college will offer Mass every Saturday morning at 9 a.m. in the New England chapel, followed by refreshments and a campus tour.
Those who would like to visit the campus or chapel during the week may do so by contacting the Admissions Office at admissions@thomasaquinas.edu or 1-800-634-9797.
