Msgr. David Joyce named Springfield St. Patrick’s Parade marshal

SPRINGFIELD – Msgr. David Joyce, a retired priest of the Springfield Diocese, has been named 2019 Springfield parade marshal for the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade.

The Springfield St. Patrick’s Parade Committee will honor Msgr. Joyce with a reception on Sunday, March 10, from 1-3 p.m. at the John Boyle O’Reilly Club, 33 Progress Ave., Springfield.

Also to be celebrated at the March 10 reception are Tom and Mollie Sullivan, recipients of the John and Agnes Burke Award; Paul A. Phaneuf, recipient of the Mary B. Troy Appreciation Award; Bob Charland, recipient of the Paul G. Caron Award; and 2019 Springfield Colleens Mary-Kate Caron, Mary MacDonnell, Rose McCaffrey, Lauren Poole, and Caileen Simonds. 

Annual Mass on March 15

The Springfield St. Patrick’s Parade Committee also will host its annual Mass in honor of St. Patrick, to be celebrated by Springfield Bishop Mitchell T. Rozanski, on Friday, March 15, at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut St., Springfield. 

Following the Mass, at 10:30, all are invited to the raising of the Irish flag on the steps of Springfield City Hall, 36 Court St.
