Springfield Diocese sees many priest reassignments in recent months

SPRINGFIELD – Throughout the spring and summer months, a number of diocesan and religious order priests in the Springfield Diocese were reassigned. Others left for medical leaves and some retired. Following is an updated list of clergy transfers and information:
Effective April 18:
Father John Tuohey, parochial vicar at St. Mary Parish, Westfield, is on medical leave.
Effective May 7:
Father Mark Stelzer, associate professor at Our Lady of the Elms College, was appointed administrator of St. Jerome Parish, Holyoke. He will continue as associate professor at Elms College.
Effective June 5:
Father Peter Ha Dinh Dang, administrator of St. Paul Parish, Springfield, was named pastor of that parish.
Effective June 29:
Father Mark Glover, pastor of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Springfield is on leave.
Effective July 1:
Father William Cyr, pastor of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, North Adams, has retired.
Father Ryan Sliwa, parochial vicar at St. Mary Parish, Westfield, has entered monastic life.
Effective July 2:
Father Dariusz Wudarski, pastor of Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Chicopee, was named pastor of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, North Adams.
Deacon David Southworth, assigned to St. Mary Parish, Longmeadow, was named administrator of Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Chicopee.
Father William Tourigny, pastor of St. Rose de Lima Parish, Chicopee, will also serve as canonical pastor of Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Chicopee.
Effective July 9:
Conventual Franciscan Father Anthony Fagone, who was pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Chicopee, is now in residence at St. John Paul II Friary, Holyoke.
Conventual Franciscan Father Joseph Bayne was named rector of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Basilica Parish, Chicopee.
Father Jacques Coly, formerly parochial vicar of Immaculate Conception Parish, Indian Orchard, was named administrator pro-tem of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Springfield.
Effective July 14:
Father Michael Kokoszka, newly ordained, has been named parochial vicar at St. Mary Parish, Longmeadow.
Father Frank Furman, newly ordained, has been named parochial vicar pro-tem at St. Agnes Parish, Dalton.
Effective July 30:
Father Donald Noiseux has retired.
Effective Aug. 1:
Father Donald Noiseux, retired, was named administrator pro-tem of Christ the King Parish, Ludlow.
Effective Aug. 2:
Conventual Franciscan Father Jacek Leszczynski has been named pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Chicopee.
Conventual Franciscan Fathers Joseph Benicewicz, Michael Englert, Noel Danielewicz, and Thomasz Ryba have left St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Basilica Parish, Chicopee.
Conventual Franciscan Father Andrej Brzezinski has left Our Lady of the Cross Parish, Holyoke.
Conventual Franciscan Fathers Paul Miskiwicz and Mieczyslaw Wilk were appointed parochial vicars at St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Basilica Parish.
Conventual Franciscan Brother Paschal Kolodziej was appointed guardian of St. Hyacinth Friary, Chicopee.
Effective Aug. 8:
Father Michael Bernier, who was on leave, has returned as pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, Pittsfield.
Effective Aug. 14:
Columban Father Mark Mengel, pastor of Holy Name Parish, Springfield, retired.
Effective Aug. 15:
Father David Aufiero, pastor of St. Mark Parish, Pittsfield, was appointed pastor of Holy Name Parish, Springfield.
Father Christopher Fedoryshyn, administrator pro-tem of Sacred Heart Parish, Pittsfield, was appointed administrator of St. Mark Parish, Pittsfield.
Effective Aug. 31:
Father Frank Lawlor, pastor of St. Mary Parish, Westfield, will be on medical leave.
Effective Sept. 1:
Father Matthew Alcombright, pastor of Mary Mother of Hope Parish, Springfield, will become pastor of St. Mary Parish, Westfield.
Father John Hurley, parochial vicar of Blessed Sacrament Parish, Holyoke, will be assigned as an auditor at the diocesan Tribunal.
Father Michael Wood, administrator of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Pittsfield, will be administrator of Mary Mother of Hope Parish, Springfield.
