OBITUARY: Sister Joseph Anne Moran, SSJ

HOLYOKE – Sister of St. Joseph, Joseph Anne (Mary) Moran, 95, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died on Nov. 2 at Mont Marie Health Care Center, here.
Born in Worcester, Mass., she was the daughter of Michael and Sarah (McMahon) Moran. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield in 1936 from St. Stephen Parish, Worcester. Her early education was at St. Stephen School, Worcester; she graduated from St. Stephen High School in 1936. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee and a master’s in education from Boston College.
Her teaching assignments were at St. Mary High School, Milford, Mass., where she taught modern languages; and the College of Our Lady of the Elms, where she was a member of the modern language department. She also served as dean of students, director of financial aid and registrar at Elms College.
In addition to her sisters in community, she is survived by her sister, Sister of St. Joseph Teresa Moran, of Pittsfield; and by her brothers, Joseph Moran and James Moran, both of Worcester. She was predeceased by her sister, Sister of St. Joseph Anna Patrice (Rita) Moran, and by her brothers, John Moran and Francis Moran.
The wake will take place at Mont Marie, Holyoke, on Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 9-10:30 a.m., with a prayer service at 10 a.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in Mont Marie Chapel, with burial in Mont Marie Cemetery.
