AGAWAM – The Office of Faith Formation for the Diocese of Springfield will hold the third annual Catholic Youth and Family Day at Six Flags New England, 1623 Main St., here, on Friday, Aug. 10.

The day will begin with a Mass celebrated in the River’s Edge Picnic Grove by Springfield Bishop Mitchell T. Rozanski at 9:30 a.m. Those attending the day are asked to arrive in the picnic grove at 9 a.m. to ensure that Mass can begin promptly.

Several hundred members of the Diocese of Springfield, as well as visitors from surrounding dioceses are expected to attend the Mass and family day.

Revive Ministry from the Diocese of Providence, R.I., will lead the congregation in praise and worship music.

Following the Mass, participants will be able to enjoy a full day of rides and water attractions in the park, including Hurricane Harbor. A buffet lunch will also be available back in the picnic grove from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

“Faith and fun go hand in hand,” said Gina Czerwinski, director of catechesis and youth formation for the Diocese of Springfield. “We live our faith out in the real world so this gives us an opportunity to really start the day energized and ready to go. So, when we’re in the park throughout the day I hope that that energy and enthusiasm and the way we live our Catholic faith really shines through.”

The Mass is open to the public and interested participants must present their day ticket or season pass.
