SPRINGFIELD – A Bhutanese family forced from their native country has found a home in western Massachusetts after living as refugees for 24 years.

Bir and Kunsang Tamang and their two sons were resettled in Westfield last year by the Springfield Diocese’s Catholic Charities Agency and are featured in the cover story of the January/February issue of The Catholic Mirror.

Kathy and Russ Held are coordinators of the Retrouvaille Program in western Massachusetts and Connecticut. (IObserve photo/courtesy of Russ and Kathy Held)

Other stories in this issue focus on ways the diocese is reaching out to Catholic couplies, families and individuals through the new myParish app; the Retrouvaille Catholic marriage program; and the Rachel’s Vineyard ministry for those suffering from past abortions.

The issue includes the regular Pope Watch, Culture, In the Know with Fr. Joe and Parenting Journey columns, along with a new column, Good Life, aimed at young adults; and the latest local news of the diocese.
