Local parishes to mark Fatima anniversary with Public Square Rosary Crusade
SPRINGFIELD – October is traditionally celebrated as the Month of the Rosary by Catholics worldwide. This year an even greater significance is being placed on the recitation of the rosary as the yearlong celebration of the 100th anniversary of the apparitions at Fatima, Portugal comes to an end.
Catholics in the Diocese of Springfield are invited to take part in the Public Square Rosary Crusade, a national initiative coordinated by Tradition, Family and Property and its “America Needs Fatima” campaign.
Locally, the event will be held at three parishes on Saturday, Oct. 14:
- At St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Basilica, 566 Front St., in Chicopee, the rally will begin at 11:30 a.m. with recitation of the rosary at noon.
- A rally at St. Elizabeth Parish, 191 Hubbard St., Ludlow, will begin at noon, with recitation of the rosary and a prayer service led by Father Homer Gosselin, pastor.
- And at All Souls Parish, 449 Plainfield St., Springfield, Father Juan Garcia, pastor, will lead a rosary and procession in Spanish beginning at noon.
