SPRINGFIELD – St. Michael’s Academy, 153 Eddywood St., here, today announced that a $5,000 grant has been approved from Westfield Bank. The funding will be used to support the purchase of document cameras for use in the classrooms.

“We are extremely grateful to the Westfield Bank Future Fund for their continued generosity and support of St. Michael’s Academy,” said Ann Dougal, principal of St. Michael’s. “This grant will provide our students with a cutting edge tool that will engage different types of student learners, allow for more time on task, and increase direct student participation and communication in the classroom.”

Westfield Bank established the Future Fund in 2002 as a response to an overwhelming community need: corporate funding to help children. The Future Fund has supported children’s programming throughout the community with a focus on educational, recreational, cultural, and social service programs.

St. Michael’s Academy is the largest Catholic elementary school in western Massachusetts and welcomes students from preschool through eighth grade. For further information about the Academy or to inquire about openings, call (413)782-5246.
