St. Thomas More Society to sponsor April 26 panel on legalized marijuana

SPRINGFIELD – The St. Thomas More Society of the Springfield Diocese will sponsor a social and panel discussion on “The Moral and Legal Implications of Legalized Marijuana” on Wednesday, April 26 from 5-7 p.m. in the Heidelberg Room at The Fort restaurant in Springfield.

Panelists will include Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni; Attorney David Mech; Father James Nolte, pastor of St. Patrick Parish, South Hadley; and West Springfield Mayor William Reichelt.

The event is free. Light refreshments will be served and a cash bar will be available.

The mission of the St. Thomas More Society of the Springfield Diocese, as described on its website, www.stthomasmorewestma.org, is, “To foster and promote high ethical/moral principles and the pursuit of truth in the legal profession and the administration of justice generally and in the community of Catholic lawyers, judges and legal associates particularly.”

Membership in the St. Thomas More Society is open to any Catholic:

  • Judge, lawyer, or other member of the legal profession,
  • Person involved in legal education,
  • Person working in the administration of civil or criminal justice
  • Retiree of any of the above, and
  • Who reside or work in the Diocese of Springfield or contiguous area thereof, and
  • Who signifies his/her intentions to become a member.
